Registration
Upon satisfaction that the company's quality assurance system is in compliance with the
appropriate ISO 9000 standard, the company will arrange for third party registration.
This will involve having an independent third party agency conduct an on-site audit of
the company's operations against the requirements of the appropriate standard. After the
initial registration, this third party agency will perform periodic surveillance to
assure that the company's quality system is being maintained. Many of the agencies will
require a full re-audit after a specified time, typically three to four years. If the
company subsequently fails to maintain the quality system, the agency will suspend or
cancel the company's registration.
Selection of a qualified agency to serve as the company's third party registrar should be
performed carefully. It is important to use an agency that is recognized by other
registrars especially in the countries the company is currently or is planning to do
business.
